I posted this earlier today, but wanted to update the post and let everyone know that LeapFrog actually contacted me this afternoon and we are going to be doing a Tag Reading System giveaway here on Penny Pinching Parent starting on Friday to help spread the word about National Reading Month and their 1 Million Reading Hours Pledge…. is that not awesome?!?

I’m not going to spill all the beans right now… you will have to come back on Friday, but I will hint at the fact that it’s a really generous giveaway and the winner will get something for their local library too!!!

LeapFrog is hosting a Tag Reading Challenge in celebration of National Reading Month. Their goal is to stress the value of reading to your child and to get parents to pledge to read to their children daily. They hope to accumulate enough pledges to total 1 million hours of reading time during the month of March.

Isn’t that awesome?!? I could not imagine not reading daily to my child, she loves it, she thrives on it. I seriously think she would have withdrawals if we did not read to her. We have read to my daughter since she was in my belly… even before she could hear, so she is used to it and it’s just a part of her daily life. Reading is so important, so I think this is an awesome effort on LeapFrog’s part.

As a thank you for making the pledge, you can print out a calendar, a certificate and some coupons (good at Toys R Us) for the Tag Reading System. Here’s peek at the he coupons you get to print out:

• Save $4 at Toys R Us on and book in the TAG Library
• Save $10 at Toys R Us on the Tag Reading System

The coupon makes the Leap Frog Tag System$39.99 after the discount at Toys R Us, which is a great price for it. The coupons expire 4/4/09.

I took the pledge… even though my little one’s a little too young right now for the Tag System (it’s on our list for next year)… hopefully you will too!
