Oral-B Stages Tips to Make Brushing Fun

So, with summer comes all those great things like cotton candy at the fair, popsicles in the kiddie pool… things that aren’t great for our little ones (or mommy or daddy’s) teeth.

Oral B is working to help spread awareness of the importance of healthy oral hygiene habits for little ones. They have shared this great video by Dr. Laura Jana, M.D., author and founder of Practical Parenting Consulting, LLC – she is also mother of three. It’s on YouTube and you can find it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijJ8xhM7Qwc.

The video shares tips on how to establish these healthy habits in your little one… this is a great video for those of you out there who are first time mommies who have little babies, it goes over when you should start brushing, etc. We are actually planning on our first dentist visit here in a few weeks, fortunately brushing her teeth is one hygeine habit that my toddler absolutely LOVES… I think it’s because we just started so young and it’s been a part of her day as long as she can remember. She will remind us if we get her ready in the morning or for bed and forget to help her get her toothbrush ready for her… we currently have an Oral B battery powered Little Mermaid.

Also, here are some great tips from Oral B on how to make brushing fun:

Oral-B Stages Tips to Make Brushing Fun
  • Brush your teeth with your child to set a good example. This also helps your child to learn by watching and imitating you.
  • Choose toothbrushes and toothpaste with popular kids’ characters, like Oral-B Stages, to help establish positive oral care routines with familiar friends like Winnie the Pooh or Disney Princesses.
  • Sing your child’s favorite song, such as “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” for two minutes to encourage brushing for the dentist-recommended time. For older children, play a song from their favorite pop singer for two minutes.
  • Making your child’s brushing routine fun will encourage proper habits early and help prevent oral care issues later in life.
