Budget Friendly Artwork Idea For Kids Room

14
Oct
I was looking for some inexpensive artwork for my little ones room and I wanted to share my most recent project…

When I couldn’t find something I liked that was budget friendly, I decided to make something. I am not very “artsy” at all… I drool over some of the crafty blogs that I read. Try as hard as I might, I just don’t have the sort of inborn creativity that some people do. That’s why I thought I would share a one of the projects I just finished… in case some of you all are as “designed challenged” as I am.

This photo collage cost me right at $11 total and it was super easy to make.
For the flower pictures, I visited Stock.Exchng and just handpicked a handful of rose bloom pictures, saved them to the computer and had them printed out at Walgreen’s. I had a coupon, so my pictures were something like $2.04 for 12 prints.
Then I picked out some frames at the local dollar store for $1 a piece ($9 total) and painted them white…I liked the style of the frames, but they were brown originally, an easy fix with paint already on hand. Let everything dry, assembled the frames with the pictures, hung on the wall and that was it. Like I said, SUPER easy art project and cheap too… a really unique photo collage for $11 bucks.
If you haven’t ever used or heard of Stock.Exchng, it’s a free stock photo site and there are literally thousands and thousands of stock photos that you can download for free. You could find trains or planes for a boys room, toys for a play room (my next project), pretty much anything your heart desires. They do have a premium site, where you can buy photos, but I am usually able to find something free that I like.
I think the possibilities for this type of project are endless, you could do something for pretty much any room of the house and depending on the size of the print you selected have a different look just from changing the size or maybe by printing the images in black and white.
I have other little inexpensive things I have done in my daughter’s room, that I plan on sharing when I get a free moment and eventually once everything is done… I’ll share the whole room with you. Right now my daughter’s “big girl” room is my favorite room in the house, it’s just so warm and inviting.

Thank you both! I LOVE the calendar idea… I will be stealing that one for sure as we move into December and all the calendars get marked way down!

That is really cute!!! I have also used pictures from old calendars. They are also a cute way to have fun art at a frugal price.
