What the PPP family thinks?
“Calling all Super Readers. To the Book Club!” If you know what I am talking about, then my guess is you have a little Super Why fan like we do at our house. Super Why is one of our favorite programs. My little one likes it because there are familiar stories like “The Three Little Pigs” and “Little Miss Muffet.” Mommy likes it because it teaches letter and word recognition.
We were really excited to have the Super Why Touch & Learn Super Duper Computer sent to us for review. We are in the midst of learning letter recognition and thought this would be a perfect addition to our learning activities… a fun addition!
The weekend it arrived was one we were actually going to be in the car for a long car ride, so it got broke in fast. My little one played and played and played with it while we were driving down the road and every time we got back in the car she wanted to know where her “super computer was.”
The Super Why Touch & Learn Super Duper Computer is a hit with my almost 3 year old and here’s a look at just a few of the things we like about this learning toy:
- Size & Portability- This computer is a great size for preschoolers and since it runs on batteries it can be taken just about anywhere.
- Growth Potential- There are several different game and several different playing levels and so this learning toy will grow with my child as she learns to read more.
- Levels of Play & Games- The games are based on story book tales, just like the show, so that’s fun. Also, I really like the levels seem to be age appropriate. For instance if my daughter doesn’t answer a question then it repeats the question with a little hint. If she still doesn’t know it then it pleasantly gives the answer. This may sounds like a strange thing to like, but some educational games can be a little tough on how they respond… I can’t stand a game that makes a terrible sound and says “WRONG!!!” Where’s the fun and encouragement in that?
- Preschooler Approved- My little one who is just two months away from turning three really likes this computer. There a lot of learning items that I just fall in love with, but she doesn’t give them a second thought… this is not one of those items, she loves having her own little computer to play games on.
Is there anything the PPP family didn’t like?
My husband mentioned that it would be nice if the display on the computer was backlit. I told him that I thought that something like that would raise the price considerably. Yea, a backlit display would be nice, but would not be a deal breaker for me on buying this computer for a preschooler.
In the car he also mentioned that he wished there was an off or volume on the sounds… there is music that plays in the background the entire time the computer is on. For my hubby this was a little nerve grating… I didn’t even notice it until he pointed it out. He was the one driving and I can see continual music getting on your nerves in traffic. We mainly use this as an activity while mommy is cooking or doing some household chore, so the continuous music doesn’t bother me at all… I am pretty good at tuning out things and noise maker toys don’t bother me anyhow.
Overall this is a great budget friendly educational item for preschoolers and I think it would make a great gift.

I used to work in the toy industry, actually. Here's a tip from the pros – Cover the speaker with masking tape. It works wonders.
P.S. the little mini Why Writer is adorable!
